19 Haziran 1948 İngiltere doğumlu Nick Drake 20 yaşında Island Records ile sözleşme imzalayıp ilk albümü Five Leaves Left’i 1969’da çıkardı. Bunu Bryter Layter ve Pink Moon izledi ve bu üç albüm de zamanında pek tutmadı açıkcası.. Zaten çeşitli problemlerle boğuşan kendisi için büyük bir hayalkırıklığı yarattı.. 
Cambridge’de İngiliz edebiyatı okuyan Nick hüzünbaz, damardan şarkılarında genelde ay, sonbahar,yağmur, yıldızlar gibi temalara ağırlık verir.. Akorunu bozduğu gitarıyla yarattığı ilginç melodileriyle tanınır.. Ailesi tarafından bazen bir akor üzerinde sabaha kadar saatlerce çalıştığı söyleniyor.. herşeyi kafaya takan bir yapısı vardı herhalde 🙂  

 

3 albüm yaptı.. albümleri yaşarken pek tutulmadı.. bizim site gibi 🙂 sonumuz benzemeş işalla ..
çekingenliği ve içine kapanıklığı yüzünden konser de vermedi.. Yıllarca uykusuzluk ve depresyonla uğraştı.. hatta bunlar da şarkı sözlerine yansımıştır.. zaten ölümü de bu yüzden oldu..1974’de bir tür antidepresan olan aşırı dozda amitriptylineden dolayı 26 yaşında aramızdan ayrıldı..
